When DuPont Almost Overthrew the Government | Business Pundit

In the summer of 1933, shortly after Roosevelt’s “First 100 Days,” America’s richest businessmen were in a panic. It was clear that Roosevelt intended to conduct a massive redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor. Roosevelt had to be stopped at all costs. The answer was a military coup. It was to be secretly financed and organized by leading officers of the Morgan and Du Pont empires...

...The plot fell apart when Butler went public. The general revealed the details of the coup before the McCormack-Dickstein Committee, which would later become the notorious House Un-American Activities Committee. (In the 50s, this committee would destroy the lives of hundreds of innocent Americans with its communist witch hunts.) The Committee heard the testimony of Butler and French, but failed to call in any of the coup plotters for questioning, other than MacGuire. In fact, the Committee whitewashed the public version of its final report, deleting the names of powerful businessmen whose reputations they sought to protect. The most likely reason for this response is that Wall Street had undue influence in Congress also. Even more alarming, the elite-controlled media failed to pick up on the story, and even today the incident remains little known. The elite managed to spin the story as nothing more than the rumors and hearsay of Butler and French, even though Butler was a Quaker of unimpeachable honesty and integrity. Butler, appalled by the cover-up, went on national radio to denounce it, but with little success.

Butler was not vindicated until 1967, when journalist John Spivak uncovered the Committee's internal, secret report. It clearly confirmed Butler's story.

Conservative commentators Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly regularly rail against President Obama’s budget which would fix the Bush tax system. According to a new analysis, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly each save $400,000 under the current Bush tax system.

It Was The Irresponsible Leveraging, Redirect The Blame

Enough Demonizing The Mortgage Holders, It Was The Irresponsible Leveraging

Over and over, it has begun to drone on throughout society and media. “Loser homeowners”, “irresponsible borrowers”, et cetera… the mantra is being touted the main reason behind the current financial collapse. The responsible parties at the helm of major banks and government have shifted blame to those who do not have the means nor the power to defend themselves. It is easy for the well-connected CEO’s and government insiders to get their faces on TV and get the meme of their faultless leadership into the public psyche.

...(A) major banking institution leveraging itself at 35:1 is not the effect of poor home loans but the irresponsible management and leadership of the institution.

The persons holding the cards look down upon and even blame the defaulting homeowners (they are not blameless, but are hardly the key players in the collapse), when it was the the banking lobbyists pushing to relax regulation and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) who relaxed leveraging rules to allow banks more room to game the system. And when it all crumbled… it was the banking CEO’s with hat in hand before congress begging for the socialist handouts, not the homeowner who was being booted to the street for taking an ill-advised, poorly managed home loan that the banks were all too pleased to use as a means of leverage by granting to sub-prime borrowers.

AP study finds $1.6B went to bailed-out bank execs - BusinessWeek

"Benefits included cash bonuses, stock options, personal use of company jets and chauffeurs, home security, country club memberships and professional money management, the AP review of federal securities documents found.

"The total amount given to nearly 600 executives would cover bailout costs for many of the 116 banks that have so far accepted tax dollars to boost their bottom lines...

"Goldman Sachs' tab for leased cars and drivers ran as high as $233,000 per executive. The firm told its shareholders this year that financial counseling and chauffeurs are important in giving executives more time to focus on their jobs."

ABC News: On Obama, Earmarks, Palin Less Than Honest

Palin lies about the Bridge to Nowhwere (she was for it before she was against it), earmarks generally (she loved them before she hated them), and Obama's legislative record (she didn't know we had a federal government with its own Senate).

Bush, McCain, and Obama? What's the difference?

McCain observes that "in the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations", conveniently if temporarily forgetting the 2003 illegal invasion of Iraq that he, and practically every other Republican, Democrat, and Independent, supported.

BBC adds fuel to 9/11conspiracy theories - Telegraph

A BBC programme investigating the conspiracy theories of September 11 is expected to prolong speculation that the attacks were perpetrated by the American government.

The investigation into the "mysterious" collapse of the third tower of the World Trade Centre will re-examine questions which an official inquiry was designed to answer.

The 47-storey tower collapsed seven hours after the Twin Towers and has become the subject of heated speculation and a host of conspiracy theories which suggest it was brought down by a controlled demolition.

The final official report on the World Trade Centre is due to be published this month and official investigators are expected to conclude that fire caused the collapse of the third tower.

Fuelling the conspiracy theorists, however, a BBC investigation points out that this would be the first and only skyscraper in the world to collapse solely due to fire.

A programme called the Conspiracy Files says it is trying to "explore man unanswered questions to find out what really happened, and why some people think there was a sinister plot to destroy the building."
